Frequently Asked Questions
DeKalb Christian Home Educators (“DCHE”) is a Christ-centered homeschool cooperative open to serving the entire homeschooling community.
We provide low-cost extracurricular and free social events to homeschooling families. We facilitate the social interaction necessary for the healthy emotional and cognitive development of children. For over 30 years, we have gathered for mutual support and encouragement by sharing resources and educational opportunities because “we believe that relationships are the key to a quality education.”
We are a resource that offers weekly diverse social engagement, academic enrichment, supportive community, and parents-as-teachers training. A cooperative of families sharing access to academic classes, extracurricular activities, and social engagement. Student social programming includes science & history fairs, Scripps Spelling Bees, graduations, Field Day, field trips, and community service projects tailored for kids as young as 4 years old.
DeKalb Christian Home Educators (DCHE) is NOT A SCHOOL. We are a Christ-centered, parent-led, educational support group for homeschooling families. DCHE provides Christ-centered meaning instruction based on Biblical principles. All board members & instructors respect and do not teach theology contrary to the DCHE’s “Statement of Faith.” Teachers are welcome to pray in Jesus’ name at the beginning of each class. However, families are not required to be Christian to register for our classes. We do not discriminate based on race, color, religion, national origin, sex, or physical & mental ability.
How Do I Register For Classes Or Clubs?
Read and understand all policies and procedures including bylaws.
Are You Equipped For Special Needs and Developmentally Delayed Children?
DCHE is not specifically equipped to serve special needs children. We welcome any special needs child(ren) to participate in classes. But before the family registers, the parents, group coordinator, and instructor(s) must clarify the needs and agree upon any accommodations.
DCHE does not discriminate based on ability, except when a disability or special need poses a safety hazard to staff and/or other children, or when a specific need is beyond the scope of care.
DEIA STATEMENT: We prioritize underserved and under-resourced homeschooling families with a mission to respectfully serve all ethnicities, races, socio-economic /immigration statuses, and intellectual abilities.
