Middle School Math
This class is appropriate for 7th grade and up. Additionally, 6th graders who are strong in math may join.(Otherwise, Arithmetic 6 would be best) We use the Abeka Intermediate Mathematics Curriculum (7th Grade) for this course. (Previously the Basic Mathematics Course) The new curriculum better prepares our students to move forward in math, no matter what the curriculum. This course successfully bridges the gap between elementary and high school math and effectively prepares students for testing and more advanced courses. This class will cover topics from arithmetic and geometry to statistics and algebra. We will review concepts from previous years and move into the new concepts in our curriculum. Students will review fractions, decimals, and percentages and apply them to problems based on real-life situations, like taxes and insurance. Students will also work with algebraic concepts like polynomials, square roots, and simplifying equations. Basic Geometry and Trigonometry will also be introduced during the course of the year. Our goal is to increase your child's mathematics understanding, problem-solving skills, and confidence level while we review basic math concepts and add on a new layer every week. WE MEET TWO TIMES A WEEK. Our instruction class (Wednesday) For a study group or second instruction class during the week. (2nd online meetup will be scheduled after the class has made) Students are encouraged to take ownership of their learning by asking questions through email, quick hw help sessions, and in our chat area so that they can feel confident about what they are learning.
